Treatment at the Clinique de l'Espoir
Back

AIDS patients participating in clinical research at Clinique de l'Espoir receive several immunotherapy sessions, during each of which they receive vaccine injections over an 8 week period. Early reports indicate that this form of therapy has the potential to lower viral counts and boost immune systems in patients. A key barrier to its full recognition by the scientific community, however, is the fact that Ngu and his staff have been unable to conduct more regular interval testing to determine the efficacy of their immunotherapy over time. Such interval testing (viral counts and CD4 cell counts) is so costly that the staff can only afford to conduct one test between the initiation and termination of the immunotherapy treatment.

In providing treatment for thousands of indigent AIDS patients, Clinique de l'Espoir has brought hope to many of those infected and affected by the AIDS virus. Professor Ngu and his dedicated staff need your help to conduct top-quality laboratory and clinical research and to continue providing quality care and hope to Cameroon's growing population of AIDS patients.
